Today...
Unlike the Brave New World, there is not a "set" caste system. However, in The Developing New America, Sam Amer says "Life in America is slowly falling into a type of a new caste system, where your origins, and particularly your family's fortunes can in large part determine your future". However, there is somewhat of an implied one. People are put into social groups based off money and race. For example, Blacks and Latinos are normally put at the bottom of the social ladder because they generally are stereotyped as people who have less money. They are looked down on just like the Epsilons are. Also, I would say Asians and some whites can be middle class where they would live comfortably just like Gammas and Deltas. Lastly, pure white rich men are looked to be at the very top of the Social ladder because of stereotypes (Alphas and Betas).
We are similar in the way that people that are born in a certain social class do not make their way up. Today, people stay in the same class they were born in. In the Brave New World, the beings also stay in their place. They do not have a choice in which caste they are born in and neither do we.
