In Conclusion...
When briefly reading about The Brave New World, Huxley's description seems like a truly ideal utopian society. A society where there is no problems, or hardships. In a world like ours, many would want this.
Also, rather than by looks or name, the World State seems to be controlled by the intellectual ability of each individual.
However, after extended thought, The Brave New World seems similar to ours. The problem? Our world is far from perfect. We share many similarities, including our uses of technology (such as for entertainment purposes), our misuse of medicine with marijuana (medical cards), the government monitoring what we see and what we don't (confidential informatio), and our informal caste system based off race and money. However, while we do share similarities with the Brave New World, we also have a few differences. We oppose human cloning as many feel there is a the moral dilemma. We also put a huge emphasis on free will and family. This being said, are we becoming the Brave New World? In some ways, yes. But, in no way do we think that we will ever reach the point of a society made up of Bokanovsky twins or soma relations.
It is difficult to comprehend or say whether the United States will ever become the World State. Our culture has been built on freedom and liberties where individuality actually matters. However, as for right now all we can say is we may very well be on our way to becoming the Brave New World!
